SPONSORSHIP
From the moment that Shelly Sauls moved to Richmond Hill, the area became a better place to live and play. She first got involved in the organization by coaching and her involvement and dedication has grown with each passing year. Shelly now donates countless hours each month to the Richmond Hill Recreation Association, going above and beyond with each and every project. Few activities take place within our organization that do not involve Shelly. She strives to find alternative ways to improve all of the programs. Shelly is a get-r-done type person, focusing on quality programs to benefit the youth and adults of our community. Not seeking recognition, Shelly inspires other to become involved. She is a natural leader and people person with excellent organizational skills. Whether dealing with parents, coaches, players, umpires or administrative personnel, Shelly takes each person's issue seriously, working to come to a solution that is fair to everyone. She has a heart of gold and enough energy and drive to make things happen.
Shelly has taken on the task of overseeing the Concessions Committee. In fact, she is basically the whole committee. Making sure that supplies are ordered, picked up, stored and organized, the concessions stands are well maintained, cleaned and run efficiently. She schedules and trains the workers, moving between two or 3 locations at any given season. She often puts in even more hours maintaining the concession stands. It's a never ending, thankless job and she never complains.
For the past two years, Shelly has taken on the task of Chairperson of the Annual Family Festival, a major fund raiser for the association. This job involves months of preparation, lining up entertainers, food prep, organizing vendors, working with the city government, recruiting volunteers to work booths, and the list goes on and on. The average attendance of the Family Festival is over 5,000.
Shelly also serves as the Vice President on the Richmond Hill Recreation Board of Directors. This position means she is involved in almost everything the board does. She participates in disciplinary hearings, attends regular meetings, participates in numerous special committees and volunteers at all recreation events such as tournaments, fund raisers, summer camps, training student umpires, working with coaches, etc. The
Richmond Hill Recreation Association has a few people that do most of the work. Shelly is a non-stop volunteer and work horse of this organization. The recreation department has also called on Shelly for help when short staffed to help with administrative issues that warrant a quick response. She is dedicated, sincere and volunteers for all the right reasons. Shelly is a person you can count on and exactly what any volunteer organization hopes for. Not only does Shelly volunteer with the Richmond Hill Recreation Association, but she also volunteers with Richmond Hill High School on the softball and Grin Iron Booster Clubs. All of these volunteer responsibilities are in addition to maintaining a well kept home and family life
